Description
Bee milk is a nutrient secreted from the glands above the bees’ jaws; it consists of flower pollen, honey nectar, and bee enzymes. It is a thick substance that dissolves in water, with a dirty white color, a pungent odor, and a sour taste. Worker bees are fed royal jelly during the first three days of their larval stage throughout their lives, while queen bees are fed only royal jelly throughout their lives.
Components: Royal jelly has a rich composition of proteins, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. It contains approximately 66% water, 15% sugar, 5% fat, 13% protein with a high amino acid content, and vitamins (biotin, folic acid, inositol, niacin, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, riboflavin, thiamine, vitamin E). It also contains 0.7–1.2% minerals (calcium, manganese, potassium, sodium, copper, zinc, iron).
